Darwin airport has welcomed its first flight from Singapore Airlines subsidary SilkAir. SilkAir is currently scheduled to fly four times weekly to Darwin with early arrivals and departures scheduled to maximise connections at its Changi airport hub.

Singapore Airlines local partner Virgin Australia will also begin its daily Sydney-Darwin service next week and have indicated they are looking to open a new lounge in 2013. Passengers looking for a quick one stop trip to Singapore may be disappointed however, as connection times in Darwin are around the 12 hour mark.
