Air New Zealand 777-300ER Visits Wellington

It’s not very often that Wellington receives wide body aircraft so plane spotters and aviation geeks alike flocked to Wellington International Airport today to get a sneak peak of a visiting black beauty. The Air New Zealand 777-300ER is specially painted in the Black ‘fern’ livery which makes for a striking entrance – particularly on a runway that is typically used by 737 and A320 aircraft. The aircraft is used on the longer North American and London routes and generally only departing from Auckland. Having this aircraft in Wellington is very special indeed.

The carrier also bought a 777-300ER to Wellington on a promotional tour last year. This video clearly shows the difficulty in having such a large aircraft takeoff from Wellington’s short runway (the angle of takeoff is incredible!)
