The worlds most hideous airline cabins

Share

Yesterday I was reading an article where Air India had released details of their new cabin design for the long-awaited 787 Dreamliner. Lets just say that I needed sunglasses from the overuse of hi-vis orange – perhaps it was designed by road workers with a penchant for citrus?

It got me thinking that it would be rather unique idea to compile a list of the worst airline interiors. Much for a laugh, really…

Air India

As I mention above, who could be so cruel to design an airline interior with this nauseating combination. In what looks like a messy soup of ’70s disco and curtains from my grandparents house, Air India really had a chance to dazzle their customers on the 787. Instead, we get the ultimate interior design fail.

Thai Airways

Now I know what your thinking. Thai can’t be that bad can they? Wrong!  In what looks like a Technicolor rainbow of drag queen outfits, Thai must have designed this after a weekend partying at Mardi Gras. It just makes me want to sprinkle glitter and spin round like a fairy in a Disney movie.

Malaysia Airlines

God knows where these airlines get their designers from; perhaps they take a bucket of crayons to a primary school and hope for the best? Malaysia Airlines, much like Thai, have suffered at the hands of designers who have clearly not heard of “less is more”.

RyanAir

Getting away from Asia and it’s fascination for rainbows, lets cast our eyes to the low-cost carrier – Ryanair. I’m fairly certain that interior design is not highest of priorities for the airline. The piercing yellow in these cabins must be an eyesore for all those hung over British chavs returning home from a dirty weekend in Prague. Further critique is the advertising on the luggage bins – truly the epitome of class is it not?

Whilst not as bad as the others by a long-shot, the overuse of orange leads me to wonder if these same designers were involved in the Air India cabin ‘refresh’. Mind you, it must be difficult to not have orange when the airlines colour and brand is completely orange – perhaps I’m just being fussy?

Have I missed any from the list?

Have you experienced any truly awful airline cabins?

Have you seen the Lao Airlines cabin? Looks like they have skinned Kermit the frog to make the seats out of. Very very green!

Oh my god… how did I miss that one?

    Outrageous!!!

In Thai tradition, there is an astrological rule that assigns colour for each day of the week. The colour is assigned based on the colour of the God who protects the day:

    * Sunday red * Monday yellow * Tuesday pink * Wednesday green * Thursday orange * Friday light blue * Saturday purple.

This is why the Crew have "Technicolor rainbow of drag queen outfits" LOL

So there's method behind the madness!
I wonder if Malaysia Airlines also follows the same tradition?

I was born on a Saturday, maybe that explains why I like purple

    Hi,

Our local low cost carrier Transavia housecolor is green….it's awfull. And when introducing their new interior with their new planes it even got worse…
