Losing luggage is more common than you think…

You arrive at your destination ready to hit the sights when you realise that one vital piece of your holiday hardware hasn’t arrived with you – your luggage. Lost in the abyss of an airport underbelly, your luggage may or may not be reunited with you. Panic sets in. You frantically check your travel insurance policy for luggage delay cover…

Naturally, it wasn’t going to be long before someone decided to put electronic tracking devices in the luggage tags to overcome this tricky issue.

A kind source of FlymeFunky has told us that Star Alliance is undertaking market research and investigating the potential of offering luggage tags with tracking functionality. As you can see, these fancy pieces of luggage bling have a wide range of uses from locating lost luggage to checking-in luggage at home.

It is unknown if these devices would be free for all, some or none of the customers. Our source tells us that the market research questions touched on how much customers would be prepared to pay for this luxury – if at all.

So what do you think? Would you love this technology and would you pay for it? Check out the below slides and let us know what you think…
